The Ultimate Question??!

“ Achievement of your happiness is the only moral purpose of your life, and that happiness, not pain or mindless self-indulgence, is the proof of your moral integrity, since it is the proof and the result of your loyalty to the achievement of your values” – Ayn Rand

Heavy words huh?! ..this is not a philosophical note about happiness..values..and blah..but the purpose of quoting the statement is to share the motive behind this post. (Re-read it after you’ve read the post)
To begin with.. Here’s a question..How many of us have heard a boy  ( be it boy-friend or guy-friend or “just”-friends….)  say the words.. “I would like a wife who doesn’t work..”.. or “I prefer someone traditional”.. !!!
If you have and if it infuriated you.. you can read the following blissfully .. If it did not get you furious..then all the more reason to read on..

So..I come to a college like the rest of them ( “them..they..he..you”  shall henceforth refer to the boy(s) who said IT)  .. by working my ass off.. in my school to have good grades.. struggle through days of mental torture in my 11th and 12th grades..and try to keep up my g(rade)pa (Well it wasn’t much up! ) as good as theirs..(Enough of grades !) And they  have the nerve to tell me .. again and again and again.. “We don’t want someone who works and blah”..
Well what do you expect.. to hang out and have fun in college you’d want a girl who’s intellectually competent but when it comes to a lifetime.. are you scared that she’d outdo you? Does the male hormone( or whatever it is ) inject you guys with loads of insecurity along with tonnes of ego??
Its not a question of a boy rejecting me or some crap like that.. but its what I have heard from my peers..(and well some relatives too!.. ) and their stories too.
Thats point one.

Coming to point number two..
You like a girl..you like the fact that she is wild and fun and a daredevil..Then why the hell do you want to exert control over her?
You drink..and vandalise bikes on the road..but she cant drink?? Well ..ok..its not safe to get drunk and go out..but  Why cant she drink when she’s alone and rotting in her room..? Just coz she’s girl? I am not a “fight for women’s rights activist”.. but these are some small things that piss me off..
Really… seriously.. these are the words which come to my mind when I hear these sort of things..

We are living in a time when a woman can do everything a man can (well almost).. and yet the Indian mindset has changed so little..
We do what we do to make us happy in our life..ultimately that’s the goal.. isn’t it?
Then what do people get by spoiling someone’s happiness???
If you love your wife ..or your girl or anyone.. Let them be happy.. for happiness is all that matters..

Its not only about a job..or a drink..or a dress..or a sutta.. these are just examples of how we people think..examples I have seen and heard in life so far..Its applies to everyone..not just a boy..to parents who do not let their children pursue their dreams.. Or a wife who nags her husband.. or a mother in law who simply harasses her daughter in law just to have power..

For everyone out there who’s been a victim of this sort..
There comes a time when you have to stand up and shout:
“This is me damn it! I look the way I look, think the way I think, feel the way I feel, love the way I love! I am a whole complex package. Take me... or leave me. Accept me - or walk away! Do not try to make me feel like less of a person, just because I don't fit your idea of who I should be and don't try to change me to fit your mold. If I need to change, I alone will make that decision”.
